A fresh render video of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro has surfaced, sparking renewed buzz around Apple’s rumored camera redesign.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, and one of the most persistent rumors points to a complete overhaul of the rear camera panel. Notably, two different renders have emerged showcasing potential designs for the iPhone 17 Pro, and while both are intriguing, one seems more realistic based on current leaks and reports.
A New Camera Layout Inspired by Pixel?
Instead of the traditional square-shaped raised camera bump in the top-left corner — as seen in recent iPhones — the iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to adopt a horizontal camera bar that spans the entire width of the device. This new design resembles the camera layout seen on Google’s Pixel 9 Pro, offering a cleaner and more balanced look.
First Render: Sleek and Unified Finish
The first render comes from 3D designer @kanedacane on X (formerly Twitter), who shared both an image and a video representation. What sets this design apart is its color-matched camera panel, seamlessly blending with the back of the phone. Unlike previous leaks that showed a contrasting module, this render aligns with recent reports suggesting a unified finish across the back.
In the design, the camera bar rises gently from the iPhone’s body and houses three lenses, a flash, LiDAR sensor, and microphone — all neatly arranged. Interestingly, the flash has been repositioned to the far-right side of the panel, along with the LiDAR and mic, forming a tidy vertical column.
Although the lenses still protrude slightly, similar to the iPhone 16 Pro, the centralized layout could improve balance when the phone is placed flat on a surface.
Second Render: Eye-Catching but Improbable?
The second concept comes from 4RMD, known for visually striking concept trailers. This render also features a full-width camera bar but opts for a contrasting color, which clashes with leaks suggesting a uniform color scheme.
It also includes a periscope-style telephoto lens, possibly a 48MP sensor — a feature that Apple currently refers to as a tetraprism lens. However, Apple typically disguises its periscope lenses to maintain a consistent appearance, making the rectangular design in this concept questionable.
Additionally, the render hints at the return of Touch ID, a feature that’s unlikely to make a comeback this year based on current industry insights.
Early Impressions and Practical Impact
While these renders are still speculative, they offer a closer look at how the iPhone 17 Pro design could evolve. Some may find the new full-width camera bar aesthetically jarring, but it does have a practical advantage — reduced table wobble, unlike current models with off-centered camera bumps. However, the protruding lenses might still cause minor instability unless used with a protective case.
As with all Apple leaks, the final design may differ, but the current information suggests a bold redesign is on the horizon for Apple’s flagship lineup.
